Buseck, Catherine A. : Catherine A. Buseck graduated from NYSU and taught elementary school at Cassadaga Valley for 28 years. She has shown her artistic talents in many forms for over 20 years, however retirement has given her the much desired time to focus on painting. Areas where she has lived include the Adirondack region of New York, where she appreciates the lakes and mountains; western New York, where she learned to love the expanses of grape vineyards, rolling hills, and lakes; and Florida, where she loves the Gulf's gentle waves as well as the wildlife. Since she spends 7 months in western New York and 5 months in Florida, appreciation for the wide variety of scenery she sees comes through in her paintings. Catherine has attended many classes in art and has studied under artists such as Helen Gilbert, Nancy Whitermore, and Alix Anderson. The greatest sources of inspiration to her are her husband and family who have been so much support over the years. Inspiration also comes from nature and animals from her surroundings. Her favorite medium is watercolor due to its versatility, however she is not limited to that medium. She also has experience working with acrylics, oils, and ceramics. She finds great satifaction when successfully capturing subjects such as landscapes, animals, and birds. Catherine has submitted her artwork to various competitions and has received ribbons for her accomplishments. Thank you for visiting her gallery.

Egger, Derrick : Derrick Paul Egger was born in Jamestown, New York, and grew up in historical Warren, Pennsylvania. Inspired by nature, the Alleghany National Forest is where he spends a lot of time hunting and fishing, and appreciating all that the outdoors has to offer. He currently resides in Warren with his wife and two children to this day, but would love to move to Colorado where his wife is from. He has a fondness for the "mountain man" way of life.

Derrick has been involved with art his whole life! His Parents were both artists and encouraged him in art as early as nine months of age by giving him a drawing tablet and a marker and letting him scribble his heart out! As he grew up, it became a favorite pass-time and would sometimes prefer to draw then go outside and play. At age twelve Derrick began selling his drawings through a baseball card shop for $10.00. The demand for his work grew, and so did his prices.

Many have asked Derrick where it is he went to school for art, and he would tell you that he never has which many would then look shocked! If he could do it over again, he most likely would have gone to art school, but as it stands he most likely won't. He has a family and a passion for art! That much is for sure. He has not studied under any particular artist, but has many that he has looked to for inspiration

If you can't already tell, Derrick has been inspired to a great deal through the old west. Not the gun fighting, cowboy and Indian old west mind you, rather the west before it was won. The mountain man making his way through the rough terrain with only the buck skins on his back, a dream, and a horse to take him there. Of late it has been his goal and approach to offer the viewer of his work something different. He has developed a skill for what is known as wood burning, and to the professional pyrography. He would tell you he has used almost everything that leaves a trail, but mostly oils, pencil, pen, pencil and pen combined, pastels, charcoal, acrylics, airbrush, and crayon.

Derrick's favorite subject is history, and in particular Native American history, but generally he has always enjoyed the past. It could be said that much of today is simply a reflection of the past. From fashion to fad, seems that "new" today is only a carbon copy. He is fascinated with a time when ingenuity and pure guts were a man's driving force.

Most of Derrick's work is displayed in private homes, but there is a card shop on Conewango Avenue in Warren where one of his pieces still hangs. Derrick would like to eventually market his work through gift shops that deal with country living, western, Native American, and historical themes. Thank you for viewing his gallery.

Miller, Becky : Becky A. Miller (painting under her maiden name of B.A. Dincher) was born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and has lived in Warren since 1971. Her parents always thought she had a talent, but she finally decided to take drawing classes at the age of 53 in September of 2004 after sketching a bit at home for about a year. She starting out sketching women's faces from popular magazines and progressed to her present stage with the support of her friends and relatives.

In January of 2005, she began pursuing her dream of painting landscapes in oil. Oil is her favorite medium because its so forgiving and easy to maneuver. Landscapes are her favorite subject because she finds nature so beautiful and amazing. She believes that its a challenge to any artist to portray it in a way that does it the justice it deserves.

She currently studies oils at The House of Art under Kim Slocum, and has studied drawing under Cindy Hartburg. Most of her inspiration comes from nature, and an Italian oil of the Madonna and Child that she purchased at a charity auction. She finds oil painting therapeutic and a pleasurable pastime that provides a great sense of accomplishment.

When asked if she has a philosophy that guides her, she explained how she came very close to dying in 1998 from serious complications due to ovarian cancer. After two cancer surgeries in May of 1998 and December of 1999 and several sessions of chemotherapy, she has now been cancer free for over five years. Having no children, she felt the need to leave something of herself behind. Her artwork was a way of expressing herself and doing just that. Thank you for viewing her gallery.

Painting and sculpting in an expressive format allowed me to show the beauty I see in the horse. When I see a horse, that is all I see, the lines in there neck, the way they carry their head, their mane, their roughness and softness, all at the same time. Tough or gentle it all comes through in their eyes and "The Spirit of The Horse".

I wanted to stay away from pasture scenes, horses grazing in green lawns was too typical for me. I think when you see a horse everything around it changes color and shape.

The human element is left out of all but one of the paintings. "As One", a surreal painting, shows the change in the atmosphere and ones self when you are with a horse, this a true horse lover painting. No hardware on these horses.

As a young "city girl" I was fortunate to have a parent that helped me get near a horse and ride a horse. Then blessed to have a 4-H family that let me ride and show a horse named Beauty.

Little did I know that some 20 years later my passion for horses (which I would have to leave behind to raise a family) would collide with my other passion, art.

I want horse lovers to see these paintings. My story is not of an elite artist but of a woman who loves horses and puts her emotional connection with them into her paintings. I always wanted a picture of a horse that expressed to me how I felt about horses. But I could never find one. So as an adult artist I finally got to take my emotional connection and put it into my paintings and express the spirit of the horse with paint, pen, canvas, paper and metal.
